A RESOLUTION COMMENDING FRANK M. WILSON, CLAIBORNE COUNTY CHANCERY CLERK, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.
WHEREAS, Frank M. Wilson was born in Claiborne County, Mississippi, on October 9, 1942; and
WHEREAS, he is the son of the late Henry Wilson and Marie Jackson Wilson Camphor; and
WHEREAS, he attended elementary and high school in Claiborne County and was graduated from Addison High School in Port Gibson in 1961; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from high school, Frank Wilson served his country in the United States Army, doing basic training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, and a tour of duty in Munich, Germany; and
WHEREAS, after three years in the Army, he enrolled at Alcorn State University, where he earned a B.S. degree in business administration in 1968 and a Master's degree in 1980; and
WHEREAS, he was employed at the Medgar Evers Comprehensive Health Care Center in Fayette for three years, and also worked for 14 years as an accountant at Alcorn State University, where he was ultimately promoted to the position of purchasing agent; and
WHEREAS, in January of 1988, Frank Wilson was sworn in as the first male African-American Chancery Clerk of Claiborne County since Reconstruction; and
WHEREAS, he was reelected in 1991 and 1995; and
WHEREAS, he is a member and trustee of St. Peter AME Church in Port Gibson, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., has served as Treasurer of Theta Sigma Lambda Chapter, Alcorn State University and is currently President of Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity; and
WHEREAS, the husband of Pearl Myers Wilson, he is also the proud father of Wevly, Weslynne and Warren; and
WHEREAS, Frank M. Wilson has served the citizens of Claiborne County both faithfully and well in his years as their Chancery Clerk; and
WHEREAS, it is his intention to retire at the end of his current term of office:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Frank M. Wilson for his outstanding service to the public as the Chancery Clerk of Claiborne County since 1988, and congratulate him upon his retirement from that elective office, wishing him and his family all the best and the joys of this new phase of his life.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Wilson.
